Mark Ronson & the Business Intl

Mark Ronson’s latest album, Record Collection, is a cracker. I’ve been steaming it for most of the day. “An album of seductive retro pop and soulful dance-floor jams”, is a spot-on assessment from flavorpill. See below for a review of the album and everything you need/want to know about ‘The Bike Song’ –incl. video & lyrics.

There’s been a tonne of people searching for the track since triple j (Australia) featured the album and put ‘The Bike Song’ (La Chanson du Velo) on high rotation.

My only problem with the album is that it’s full of the usual likely UK/US suspects—Q-Tip, MNDR, Ghostface Killah, Spank Rock, D’Angelo, Boy George, Kaiser Chiefs, the Zutons, and the Drums—with a token Swede from Miike Snow. I’m imagining a Mark Ronson album with collaboration from young, emerging music scenes around the world –China, India, Africa, Israel, for a start. IMO it would do a lot more for his credibility as an artist/producer than another album compilation of Ronson and his ‘boys club’.

Video tracks below. ‘The Bike Song’ would go well at this year’s Bicycle Film Festival too…
